Announcement
"Expanded commitment to serve the
homeless: In effort to make sure that our parish is actively
involved in doing acts of charity, the Parish Council
recently voted to expand Ss. Peter and Paul's commitment to
feeding the homeless at a soup kitchen in DC called So
Others Might Eat (SOME). SOME provides over 500 meals per
day to the poorest of the poor. Although the Fellowship of
St. John the Divine and Men's Club have been volunteering
regularly there for some time, an opportunity to do more
recently arose and the Council showed leadership in
expanding our commitment to embrace the whole parish. So,
starting in January, our church will be providing, cooking,
and serving breakfast for the poor every second Saturday of
each month (7-9 am). We need about 15-20 volunteers
each month. All you have to do is show up
(Lot and street parking available - Appropriate food service dress required)
; everything else will be taken care
of. There is something special about looking into the eyes
of a hungry person as you hand them their only hot meal of
the day. Won't you please help us do the Lord's work and
show Washington that the Orthodox are here? If you'd like
to, please contact
Stephen
Zolnerowich or
Scott
Wunsch . For more information on SOME, their website is
